The First Friday Art Walk is a popular event of culture, art and networking, taking place the first Friday of each month downtown Michigan City, Indiana.
This event is free to attend. Patrons stroll up and down Franklin Street, where there’s hot chocolate and snacks at several locations with Christmas music and carolers filling the air.
Expect to find specially created displays for Christmas and Christmas cheer. Each location usually features an exhibit of a guest artist. This event is very popular and it touted one the the places to be in Northwest Indiana.
The First Friday Art Walk is a multi-venue event promoted by the Michigan City Mainstreet Association which focuses on fostering the arts and the artist who create it. On the first Friday of every month from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., local, uptown businesses open their doors to the public and host artists and their work.
These “pop-up” galleries showcase anything from paintings, to sculptures, to live performances. Each month, the number of participating businesses varies and so does the artwork, so be sure to come out each month and see what’s new!
