County fairs were once places where the kids and the folks took a break from Mom’s healthy green beans, biscuits, and pot roast and indulged in hand-held novelties like corn dogs, burgers, soda pop and sno-cones. Grandma bought a scrumptious blackberry pie and samples were given out after the judging took place. Back by popular Demand the 3rd Fair Food Drive Thru this year is planned for three Days! – Friday, Saturday and Sunday July 24th – Sunday July 26th. (see Hours on the Graphic)
Today, county fair foods have taken a wild ride into the crazy and wacky. Each year vendors seek recognition for their unimaginable, over-the-top food creations, mixing and matching, frying, and dipping things you might never expect to find. And, fair goers eagerly indulge in these heart-stopping, artery-clogging delicacies just to try something new, to boast that they’ve eaten it, and to find new favorites.
Some of the specialties found from local vendors are: Elephant Ears, Jalapeno Cheese pretzel, Salted Carmel Pretzel, fried green tomatoes, deep fried pickles, Ding Ding Chicken Wings, Snow Cones, double Stuffed Oreo Cookies, Funnel Cakes, Walking Tacos, deep fried cookie dough, Shaved Ice, and many, many more delicacies.
Because of the virus this year, folks did not get their fill of these fair foods, because the local fairs were cancelled. However, the local vendors are taking their product to the street (literally). Panoramanow is taking the time to bring you these wild fried foods and other extreme delicacies for the adventurous fair-goer each weekend in Northwest Indiana. This is a very timely venture, since these vendor locations change from week to week. However, PanoramaNOW has managed to give you fair goers their locations each weekend.
You’ll have to visit our website, and find their locations each week! Visit panoramanow.com/fair-food-finds!
