Based on the work of the late Chicago journalist, Studs Terkel, this Tony Nominated musical offers a glimpse of people singing about what they do all day and how they feel about what they do in their different careers. Working was revised in 2012 to include new songs, two written by Lin-Manuel Miranda (of Hamiltonfame), as well as songs by James Taylor and others. Working opens August 23 and runs for three weekends, closing September 10.

“What makes this show particularly alluring to Dunes Summer Theatre is that Studs Terkel performed on stage here in a production of “Mice and Men” back in the 1950’s,” said Jeffrey Baumgartner, Dunes Summer Theatre Producing Artistic Director. “We’re thrilled to pay homage to the theatre’s past while bringing to life a musical filled with great songs from contemporary musicians/singer/songwriters such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and James Taylor.”

The cast of Working includes Alexandria Neyhart (Chicago, IL), Corydon Melgoza (Los Angeles, CA), Dori Erwin Collins (Fort Wayne, IN), Eileen Long (Furnessville, IN), Jeffrey Baumgartner (Michigan City, IN), Jenna Fawcett (Chicago, IL), Lynnette Li (Chicago, IL), Max DeTogne (Chicago, IL), and Nick Stockwell (Boulder, CO).

Individual show tickets – $18 Seniors/$20 General Admission – are now on sale. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.dunesartsfoundation.org or call the Box/Admin Office at (219) 879-7509.

Dunes Summer Theatre is operated by the Dunes Arts Foundation a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization. Founded in 1951, it is currently celebrating its 68th season of continuous operation. This “gem in the woods” provides quality professional theatre and education programs in an enchanting setting.
