Rotary Club of La Porte is proud to host the 1st Annual Free “Hub of Awesome” Waterski Show, to take place on Pine Lake in La Porte, Indiana. The show will feature the amazing waterski skills of the Lake City Skiers, who are based out of Warsaw, Indiana.
This group of competitive amateurs has won national awards all over the United States. They have in fact been Division Two National Show Ski Champions in 2006, 2007, 2014, and 2016. Their athleticism, skiing prowess, and fun story line provide an entertaining and extraordinary show that will amaze audiences of all ages. Their signature “pyramid” skiing is thrilling to witness in person! The spectator area will be along “Ski Beach” on Waverly Road, and that segment of the road will be shut down from 4:00 – 7:30 PM so that vendors and spectators can enjoy the fantastic ambiance of an afternoon at La Porte’s beautiful Pine Lake. Boats will be asked to leave the shore area after 2:30 pm, but they are welcome to watch from outside the ski course. The Lake Association will be assisting in creating a safe perimeter so that spectators will not interfere with the safety of the boats and show skiers. The event is completely FREE, and is being sponsored by several generous businesses and organizations wanting to help showcase what a wonderful destination La Porte, Indiana is.
Currently the sponsors are Rotary Club of La Porte, the City of La Porte, The La Porte Lake Association, the Philbrook/Yandt Family, Thor Thordarson, Milo Enterprises, West Monroe Partners, and Bethany Lutheran Foundation. Additional sponsors may join the cause by contacting Rotary via Fran Milo (President) at email@example.com. Sponsorship levels are at $250 and $500, although more generous sponsorships will be appreciated and recognized in all advertising. Parking for the event will be available in Soldiers Memorial Park near Cummins Lodge, and attenders are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets for their seating to watch the hour long spectacular show. The show will run from 6:00 – 7:00 pm. Food vendors will be on Waverly Road, next to the park.
In the 1950’s, La Porte was known for its water ski shows on Stone Lake, so it is fun to bring back water ski family entertainment to the community. Look for the Lake City Skiers and Rotary Club of La Porte in the La Porte 4th of July Parade!
