“Trial by Jury” is written by Gilbert and Sullivan and Directed by Matthew Byerly. “Trial by Jury” is a short musical is a spoof of a breach of promise trial, a now-forgotten procedure, where a woman can sue a man for withdrawing a proposal of marriage. This comical musical was hailed by theatre scholar Kurt Ganzl as, “probably the most successful British one-act operetta of all time.” It also captures Gilbert and Sullivan’s signature witty lyrics and ridiculous plotlines.
“Trial by Jury” is performed on the 3rd floor of the Courthouse in the courtroom, not on a stage. Learn more at www.lakecourthousefoundation.org.
