Have you ever wondered about how Historical European Martial Arts(HEMA) might go mixed with Tai Chi? A dish of Italian Fencing with a dash of the 5 Rings of Miyomoto Musashi? The purpose of this class is NOT to fully answer that, but to take ideas and methods from the many and varied sources on combat arts/swordplay and distill them down into something you can use TODAY!

The Simplified Method of Amalgamated Combat Knowledge (S.M.A.C.K.) Talk outlines core principles and ideas from swordplay sources covering over 750 years (1100-1850), combined and contrasted with the actual realities of Human Physiology, Mind/Body interface, and stuff as we learn it together.

Topics covered included>
● Biomechanics of combat movements, including stances, guard and voiding movements.
● Measure(distance, pace and timing) and control of each.
● Sword blow mechanics.
● The ‘Economy of Violence’.
● Class Presented by Chad Burns.
Instructor: Chad Burns. A 16+ year HEMA practitioner, Chad has applied lessons learned in helping to develop/implement courses on Unarmed Self Defense and Combatives during his time in the US Army as well as repeated study of numerous Period Fechtbuchs (Fight Books) with Master rated practitioners from across the World in live combat sparring. He also finds talking about himself in the 3rd person unnerving.
