St. Patrick Church

One of the liveliest St. Patrick’s celebrations in Northwest Indiana annually. Enjoy a Feast fit for Saint Patrick – a family-friendly celebration with corned-beef and cabbage buffet also featuring other Irish food, with all the fixings.
This is a huge family event with Live Irish Dance Performance from the Mayer School of Irish Dance, and live celtic Music by Keenan Baxter. Hear Keenan’s own personal spin on St. Patty’s tunes, which are danceable and utilize all the traditional Irish Instrumentation including Bag Pipes, Fiddle, Flute and drums.

Keenan Baxter performing Celtic Music at St. Patrick Parish in East Chicago.

Local Celtic composer and keyboardist, Keenan Baxter, gears up for several St. Patrick’s performances every year. At the Age of 10, Keenan Baxter from Valparaiso Indiana, saw the show “Spirit of the Dance” at Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville. After the show, he was compelled to buy the cd and he listened to it over and over. Now, he’s a sensational Celtic composer and has created his own Celtic album ranging dynamically from the most sensitive and touching original Irish songs to hard-hitting reels and jigs. Although Keenan is not from the homeland of Ireland, nor is he Irish, he began composing his own Celtic songs about 10  years ago. Keenan’s Celtic album (titled “Reminant”) brings festive and danceable reels and jigs to airs brimming with nostalgia and sentiment. Keenan artfully layers harp with bag pipes, accordion, strings, fiddles, atmospheric vocalese and an electronic undercurrent for an intriguing fusion of old and new.
