Miller Beach

Join us for a rigorous day hike in the Miller Woods area of the newly established Indiana Dunes National Park to view the spring wildflowers. The Indiana Dunes area has some of the highest levels of biodiversity in the country!
Even better, the spring wildflowers should be at or near peak this time of year!  During past trips, we have seen fantastic blooms of lupines, Indian paintbrush, columbines and other wildflowers along the trail.  Co-leading the hike will be Tom Serynek, a native to the Dunes area.  Tom will share his knowledge of the wildflowers, native plants and local history of the area.

This is a moderately-rated, 4-mile hike that may include walking through brush and climbing sand dunes. The outing might include some off-trail hiking that might include some wet and muddy terrain. It is suggested that participants wear appropriate hiking shoes or boots for this outing.

After the outing, there will be an optional side trip to the 18th Street Brew Pub in Miller Beach for lunch and craft beer just down the street!

Cost: A $3 donation to support Sierra Club initiatives by the Northwest Cook County Group
