In a new exciting partnership with Portage Township, we can help clean up the water that flows into Lake Michigan, our main source of drinking water, and make an impact in the larger community.

In a new exciting partnership with Portage Township Department of Parks & Recreation, we will be working together to clean up litter and beautify the parks in the Salt Creek watershed. Salt Creek is a 24-mile long tributary to the Little Calumet River, part of our Conservation Corridor.

By removing litter from Haven Hollow Park (which is 2 miles west of Meadowbrook Nature Preserve), we can help clean up the water that flows into Lake Michigan, our main source of drinking water, and make an impact in the larger community.
Join us at Haven Hollow Park to celebrate Earth Day! Be prepared to work outside and dress appropriately for the weather. We will provide all the necessary equipment and gear, as well as granola bars and water, although we encourage you to bring your own reusable water bottle. Participants will also receive lunch, courtesy of the Portage Township Parks.
So that we can best plan for the event, please RSVP by calling the office at 219-242-8558 or emailing Christine at cmaloney@heinzetrust.org. For information about last minute cancellations, please check Facebook.
