“We are such stuff as dreams are made on.” For the 5th annual Shakespeare at Central Park Plaza, CST brings audiences all new magic with Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Prospero, Duke of Milan, has been usurped and exiled by his own brother to a remote island with only his daughter, Miranda, his spirit servant, Ariel, and the monstrous Caliban. Upon learning to summon the enchanted place’s magic, the banished duke brings his plans for revenge to fruition by creating a storm to lure his brother’s ship to the island. Filled with spectacle and the supernatural, it is Shakespeare’s late masterpiece of forgiveness, generosity, and enlightenment.
