Holiday Candlelight Open House
first Saturday in December, – 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The Munster Historical Society is hosting its annual Holiday Candlelight Open House on the first Saturday in December. This charming, old-fashioned, family-oriented event honors the Dutch and German holiday traditions of Munster’s early settlers, featuring a decorated tree in every room and a visit by Santa, his elves, and Mrs. Claus to the historic century-old Kaske House located in the Munster History Museum (1154 Ridge Road) at the southeast corner of Ridge Road and Columbia Avenue.
Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. If you can donate cookies, please call 219-836-6530. The free open house is held in cooperation with the Munster Junior Historical Society. Open to the public
Parking is available at the Munster School Administration Building located south of Ridge Road on the west side of Columbia Avenue (behind Bieker Woods). Heritage Park is just a short walk north on the east side of Columbia Avenue to the candlelit brick entryway. They had over 250 in attendance last year. Everyone, all ages, young and young at heart, are welcome to attend this event that celebrates the traditional holiday spirit of gift-giving and joyful celebration.
