This year we will once again showcase a bouquet of gardens–all in and around Valparaiso in Porter County Indiana. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions and explain plantings at each garden. We have door prize drawings at every garden! Northwest Indiana’s premier garden walk is sponsored annually by the Porter County Master Gardeners Association and Purdue Extension Porter County. Save money by taking advantage of advance ticket sales. Select here for information on advance ticket sale locations.

What Makes This Walk Different

Not only is our Walk pretty, it’s also smart. We’re all about education and sharing. Our homeowners love to share their knowledge, and Master Gardeners are in the gardens to help you with your questions. Not only does your ticket book feature a description of each garden, it features our 1-2-3 Education Points! Each point in the book matches a numbered stake in the yard that highlights a special something in each garden.

Whether it’s container ideas you crave or a leisurely time with a friend ambling in inviting spaces, you’re sure to enjoy Garden Walk 2017. This year’s bouquet of gardens includes 5 home landscapes and a special treat — a new public garden where you’ll learn how the garden was designed and installed! Inspiration, creation and dedication are making it happen right now.

Sweeping vistas or small vignettes? We’ve got ’em.  All gardens are new to the Walk this year and we’re excited to bring them to you.  One landscape is nearly 5 acres in scope, while another is compact and tidy. There’s a certified wildlife habitat and two side-by-side properties that grow totally organically.

  • You’ll see lots of native plants and find ideas for grouping them in your landscape – which ones play together nicely, which ones will take wet feet and which ones prefer good drainage.
  • You’ll find garden design ideas to use in your own yard, as well as learn how to choose perennials that complement shrubbery “bones” and how to incorporate perky annuals for pops of color.
  • You’ll identify fragrant bloomers that exude sensuous scents.

And you’ll learn more ways to garden organically

Plus there is a door prize in every garden, donated by our wonderful sponsors, some of which also provide their businesses as locations for advance ticket sales.

So get that camera ready and save the date: Saturday, June 24, 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. CDT (Chicago Time).
