After our first very successful swap event, we’ve had an opportunity to reflect and have decided to implement some exciting changes! Here’s a quick overview of what’s different this time around:
– Our swap event this time will be separated into TWO time slots: one for new plant parents and common plant swapping, and one for uncommon/rare plant swapping (see details below)
– Plant limit of 5 per person (make em good!)
– Sneak peak event posts: we’ll be asking you to tease us with some pics of what you’re bringing. Participants are entered into a drawing for a prize! Stay tuned for details…
– Valentine’s Day themed giveaways at the event
✨ ABOUT TIME SLOTS ✨
Due to limited space and popularity, we ask that you please attend one slot only and consider which is appropriate given the items you’re bringing.
12:00 pm – 1:30 pm
The first time slot will be reserved for our new plant friends! We want you to have an opportunity to grow your budding collection (ha) and form some great planty connections within our little community. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and guide the swapping process. This time slot is for you if you’re looking to swap plants you can find at big box stores or more common varieties, such as:
– golden/jade/neon/marble queen/etc pothos
– Green/brasil/neon heartleaf philodendron
– Common varieties of tradescantia, snake plants, and hoya
– Moonlight/silver satin/exotica scindapsus
– Cuttings of uncommon plants
***********************************************
2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Our second time slot is for more experienced plant owners. If you intend to swap at this time slot, you MUST be familiar with Rule #6: Be Respectful About Plant Trading Value. It is expected that you have a general working knowledge of familiar uncommon/rare plants, and that you ✨ know your own plants ✨. Please do NOT bring plants commonly found at big box stores, unless there is no question that your plant has higher value for some reason (sport variegation, etc). Examples of what we’re hoping to see:
– Monstera albo/thai/aurea, PPP,
– Uncommon and rare syngonium, sansevieria, and anthurium
– Hoya that have numbers instead of a name 🤣
– Full pots of uncommon plants like: philodendron micans, Jessenia pothos, VSOH, variegated hoya rope
– Large cacti
