     Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr. and Hammond Community/Crime Watch Groups will sponsor 2019 National Night Out, a crime and drug prevention event. On Tuesday, August 6th from 5p.m. to 8p.m. this event will be hosted at the Wolf Lake Splash Pad, 121st & Calumet.  This is a great opportunity to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community.

        National Night Out is designed to:
– Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
– Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts
– Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

     With a donation of canned or dry dog/cat food, cat litter, blankets, pet treats or toys a FREE hot dog, chips and pop will be given.  The donations will support Hammond Animal Control at 5131 Columbia Avenue in Hammond.

     Events for the evening include the Pop Whiting Train, face painting, magician, photographs,  fingerprinting, drunk driving simulator, face painting, door prizes and a DJ along with Hammond Police and Fire vehicles for viewing.

     Everyone is invited for an evening of information, entertainment and camaraderie.
