The Michigan City Chamber Music Festival (MCCMF) is about to kick off its 17th season, August 4-12.  The musical theme this year is “The American Music Experience,” and highlights the roots and strengths of American music.  The concerts take place at 1st Presbyterian Church, Michigan City, IN.  All events are FREE and open to the public.  There will be 5 “formal” recitals and 3 “Concerts for Children.” Children’s Concerts begin at 6:00 p.m.  Go to www.mccmf.org for details.  (Please check website for August 11 and 12 concerts time and location.)

“American music is defined by the incredible efforts of our immigrant musicians throughout the centuries,” says Nic Orbovich, Artistic Director, violinist, and Co-founder, MCCMF.   “This season, we will explore the influences of important foreign-born composers like Antonin Dvorak, Erich Korngold, Paul Hindemith, and the children of immigrants like Aaron Copland and Leonard Bernstein, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth this year!”
