Authors in all genres, and who live in the Chicago south suburban area or in Northwest Indiana may register. Space is limited to the first 25 authors to register in advance. Already scheduled are local authors Don S. McClure, Laura Eckroat, Elvis Slaughter, Gina Gadsen, D. A. Rhodes, and Sloane Taylor. Registration is $20 while space is available, until Feb. 28. Registration is $30 as of March 1, while space is available. Registration fees benefit the Hammond Public Library Foundation.

Along with the Local Author Fair, Rusty the RailCat will make an appearance that day to promote the upcoming SouthShore RailCats baseball season. Visitors who complete a Local Author Fair Passport will be entered into a drawing for RailCats tickets. The Local Author Fair wraps up National Library Week (April 7-13).

The Hammond Public Library is at 564 State St., at the intersection of Sibley and Sohl streets.
