The Porter County Children’s Museum, A Newly Founded Mobile Children’s Museum, Brings Hands-On Learning to Porter County Children
Museum Celebrates its One-Year Birthday with New Live Interactive Bug Lab in August, Families Can Visit Museum For Free at Porter County Library System Libraries
Until recently, Porter County area families have had limited access to a children’s museum experience close to home.
Through conversations with families and community members and her own experiences with her children, former Indiana Department of Education specialist Jen Hernandez-McDuell founded the Porter County Children’s Museum which celebrated its first birthday this summer.
Every month there is a different themed lab. Prior to this month’s Live Bug Lab which invites young scientists to explore today’s bugs and how they are related to bugs of the past, there was a Dinosaur Lab and a Fossils Lab.
Exhibits are designed for three different age groups. The August Bug Lab is designed for ages six – 12 but all exhibits have something for all ages.
