A concert by Dave Dolak of Hammond is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8 in the Barbara Goodman Black Box Theater at Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ), 2400 New York Avenue, Whiting, IN.
Dolak will play a mix of classical, jazz and pop music, plus some folk songs of the region, on acoustic guitar.
He also plans to play the hurdy gurdy. Dolak is a professor of instruction at Columbia College, Chicago and teaches a course in instrument making. This will be the fourth of five Friday concerts during the Greening of the Arts Show in the adjacent Bernard Gallery.
The show, begun October 18, ends November 20. It is co-sponsored by the bi-state Association for the Wolf Lake Initiative (AWLI) and Calumet College.
In advance of Friday’s concert, at 6:30 p.m. there will be a book signing of “Over the Line,” the newly published history of AWLI, a not-for-profit organization and land trust. Its executive director, Michael Boos, is the author.
