Towle Theatre

The Towle Theater closes its 2017 Subscription Season with the Northwest Indiana premiere comedic thriller of Hypnosis by David Tristram, with generous support from Hammond Urban Enterprise Association who is sponsoring the production.  The production is under the direction of Mark Baer.  Mark currently serves as Associate Professor of Theatre at Indiana University Northwest.  Previously, he directed the hilarious comedy Perfect Wedding in 2015 and the drama Nightmare Room in 2013 at the Towle.

Hypnosis is a mesmerizing thriller with plenty of twists and a liberal dash of comedy … The Great Gordo, an alcoholic stage hypnotist in the twilight of his career, randomly chooses Alan Briggs as his next stooge.  Briggs, a mild-mannered policeman, is a good sport, the audience laughs, and everyone goes home.  For Gordo, it’s just the end of another show, and time for a drink or three before bed, but someone out there has other ideas. Extraordinary ideas.  The mind games begin, the stakes are raised, and we sense there can only be one winner-But who?  Will it be the Great Gordo, Alan Briggs or his wife Helen Briggs?

The Towle welcomes back Ian Rigg (Chicago) as Alan.  Audiences may remember Ian from The House of Mirrors and Hearts and Perfect Wedding.  Stephanie Rohr (Chicago) plays Helen.  Her recent productions at the Towle were Secrets of a Soccer Mom and Perfect Wedding.  New to the Towle stage is local actor/playwright Jim Henry (Wheeler, IN) as Gordo.  Jim was the author of the Towle’s opening show last season, World Premiere –Crashing with Flamingos.  Meet the cast at www.towletheater.org/meet-the-cast-of-hyp
