The 6th Annual Variety Show will be held at the La Porte County Historical Society Museum on Saturday, June 18th at 7 P.M. Always a popular event, the show will again be held on the lower level of the museum. In honor of Indiana’s Bicentennial, the theme this year is “Hoosiers in Music.” Some of the composers featured are Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, and La Porte’s own Grace Floering. Our talented local performers include Bob & Rose Marie Dure, Bruce Johnson, Cheryl Gardner, Laura Krentz, Jim Lampl, Grace Tarnow, Robert Richter, Mary Watterson, Maggie Cornett, Solitaire Miles, Susie Richter, Katy & Tim Gartland, Lindsey Baugh, and Matt Robinson. The doors will open at 6 P.M. and regular museum admission will apply.
“Hoosiers in Music” written by Bruce Johnson, was first presented at La Porte Little Theatre in March. The Variety Show at the museum will feature excerpts from that show as well as a few surprises. Come and learn the histories of the amazing composers and musicians that called Indiana “Home.”
Chances to win an American Girl doll are still available at the museum as a fund-raiser to purchase a new LED road-side sign. The museum is located at 2405 Indiana Ave. (Hwy 35) at the south entrance to La Porte. Hours are 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tuesday through Saturday. For admission prices and other information contact 219.324.6767 or www.laportecountyhistory.org. The building is accessible to those with disabilities.
