earth dayThe Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County is making plans for exhibitors to participate in the 2020Northwest Indiana Earth Day Celebration on April 18th.

The largest free public environmental event in Northwest Indiana, the Earth Day Celebration draws visitors who are concerned about the environment and are interested in learning more about how they can reduce their impact on the planet. The event will be held in three buildings at the Porter County Expo Center in Valparaiso.

Organizations and businesses from around Chicagoland and beyond provide environmental awareness, services and products to attendees and inspire visitors to become more environmentally-conscious are invited to participate.  More information and online registration are available on the district’s website, www.ItMeansTheWorld.org.

And the day also features plenty of entertainment, activities, food, and lots to see!

  • Dozens of exhibitors
  • Main Expo Stage Entertainment
  • Bike drive to benefit Working Bikes! Bring your old bicycles and parts to this collection.
  • Play bingo to win prizes
  • Build your own birdhouse
  • Complete a survey for a free tree sapling
  • Vote on your favorite school designed rain barrel
  • Vote on your favorite artwork at the Re-Think Art Exhibition & Contest
  • First 300 families receive FREE reusable bags
  • Alternate fuel vehicle display

“Every year, our goal is to make this event better and attract more people who can take away something that they have learned to help the environment,” said Therese Davis, district executive director.
