MARCH AND LEGACY AWARDS CELEBRATION
“KEEP MOVING FORWARD”
HAMMOND, IN – Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr., City of Hammond and the Ministerial Alliance of Hammond & Vicinity, cordially invite all citizens from the Hammond and surrounding communities to participate in the Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., march and commemorative celebration on Monday.
Lineup begins at 6:30 a.m. from Freedom Plaza located on Tapper Avenue. Prior to the beginning of the march, Mayor McDermott, Ministerial Alliance and the Hammond Parks and Recreation Board will have a ribbon cutting to dedicate Freedom Plaza and the Eternal Flame, as symbols of the continuing efforts to realize Dr. King’s dream of justice, peace and equality for all. 219-853-6358 ext 2.
Dr. King believed in a nation of freedom and justice for all, and encouraged all citizens to live up to the purpose and potential of America by applying the principles of nonviolence to make this country a better place to live. This day empowers individuals, strengthens communities, bridges barriers, and moves us closer to Dr. King’s vision keep moving forward.
Also part of this year’s celebration, the Alliance will be recognizing outstanding organizations and individuals from the community.
