Each spring, visitors at Brincka Cross Gardens are treated to the sight of thousands daffodils in bloom. This year Porter County Parks will offer a guided hike that explores the beauty of the daffodils along with
other seasonal blooms such as magnolias and forsythias. The hike will take place from 3:30 to 4:15pm. It is free and no registration is required.
Park naturalist Lisa Hokky noted that spring is a wonderful season to explore this unique park maintained by the Porter County Parks Department. “This is one of my absolute favorite times of the year to visit
Brincka Cross Gardens. Spring blossoms are such a refreshing change from the winter. The gardens come alive with color from the multitude of daffodils and other spring wildflowers,” said Hokky.
Brincka Cross  Gardens were originally owned by Bill Brincka and Basil Cross who spent more than 40 years developing and nurturing four acres of landscaped gardens, which are surrounded by another 21 acres of pristine woodlands. The property boasts 400 different types of hostas, 450 varieties of daffodils, 25 kinds of crabapple trees, 40 cultivars of ornamental grasses, and 25 varieties of forsythias.
Brincka Cross Gardens is located at 427 Furness Road, west of Michigan City. To learn more about the gardens or the guided hike, visit the Porter County Parks Department website at
