Guitarist Ron Skertich of Hammond is featured at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 in concert with folk and bluegrass selections at Calumet College of St. Joseph (CCSJ).
The performance will be in the Barbara Goodman Black Box Theater at CCSJ, 2400 New York Avenue, Whiting. It is the third of five weekly concerts co-sponsored by the Association of the Wolf Lake Initiative (AWLI) and the college.
The intial concert was held at the opening of the Greening of the Arts show on October 18. It featured The Brave Day alternative rock band.
Friday’s concert will be preceded at 6:30 p.m. by a book signing of Over the Line, the newly published 20-year history of AWLI. Michael Boos is the author.
Skertich’s performance will be followed a week later by David Dolak on November 8 and The Brilliant Etesian Ensemble on Nov. 15. Organist Br. Benjamin Basile and oboist Kathryn Brtko performed last week.
The concerts, which run the duration of the show, will benefit the art program at Calumet College and AWLI, a notfor-profit organization and land trust.
More information is available by calling AWLI at 219 933-7149 or 312 220-0120 or checking AWLI’s Website at www.wolflakeinitiative.org
