      Layered: Laurel Izard and Edwin Shelton Exhibition features two distinct approaches of the expression and structure of quilts. The artist couple will have their artworks exhibited at the Chesterton Art Center in Chesterton, Indiana from September 8 – 27.
    Laurel Izard taught art for 9 years at Marquette Catholic High School in Michigan City, Indiana. In 2016 Edwin Shelton replaced her. He will start his 4th year there in August 2019. Shelton previously worked almost 5 years as the program director at the Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, Indiana. Earlier in their careers, Izard and Shelton collaborated on “Izwin” for 23 years designing, marketing, and producing a collection of earthenware jewelry, ornaments, and whimsical dinnerware.

The Chesterton Art Center is located at 115 S. 4th Street, Chesterton, Indiana. The hours are Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Saturday’s are 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

     The opening will be Sunday, September 8 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Izard and Shelton are donating 25 % of the sale of their artworks to Hey, U.G.L.Y. ( This exceptional nonprofit has a primary mission of preventing bullying.
