SUMMARY:"Bye Bye Birdie\," by LaPorte Little Theatre
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nBye Bye Birdie is a stage musical with music by Charles
Strouse and lyrics by Lee Adams\, based upon a book by Michael Stewart. O
riginally titled Let's Go Steady\, Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958. The play
's book was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the US Army in
 1957.\n\nA loving send-up of the 1950s\, small-town America\, teenagers\,
and rock &amp\; roll. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted\, so
he chooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss.
Featuring a tuneful high-energy score\, plenty of great parts for teens\,
and a hilarious script\,&nbsp\;Bye Bye Birdie&nbsp\;is sure to thrill all
audiences.\n\nThe first of the great&nbsp\;rock musicals\, Bye Bye Birdie
had come to Broadway with little advance fanfare.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\nConrad B
irdie is a veritable copy of Elvis in character\, but also in the way Elvi
s was able to affect his fans\, particularly his female fans.\nHere's a sa
mple of the kind of music and dance from Ann Margaret Movie on Tiktok218 A
