SUMMARY:"Bye Bye Birdie\," by LaPorte Little Theatre
DESCRIPTION:\n\nBye Bye Birdie is a stage musical with music by Charles Str
ouse and lyrics by Lee Adams\, based upon a book by Michael Stewart. Origi
nally titled Let's Go Steady\, Bye Bye Birdie is set in 1958. The play's b
ook was influenced by Elvis Presley being drafted into the US Army in 1957
 .\n\nA loving send-up of the 1950s\, small-town America\, teenagers\, and
rock &amp\; roll. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted\, so he c
hooses All-American girl Kim MacAfee for a very public farewell kiss. Feat
uring a tuneful high-energy score\, plenty of great parts for teens\, and
a hilarious script\,&nbsp\;Bye Bye Birdie&nbsp\;is sure to thrill all audi
ences.\n\nThe first of the great&nbsp\;rock musicals\, Bye Bye Birdie had
come to Broadway with little advance fanfare.\n\n\nConrad Birdie is a veri
table copy of Elvis in character\, but also in the way Elvis was able to a
ffect his fans\, particularly his female fans.\nHere's a sample of the kin
d of music and dance from Ann Margaret Movie on Tiktok\n\n218 A Street\, P
