28th Annual Friends of Indiana Dunes Native Plant Sale
The Friends 28th Annual Native Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 9:00am until 1:00pm at Friends’ Office located at 1000 West Oak Hill Road in Porter, Indiana. The sale is very easy to find, just north of Indiana Dunes National Park’s Chellberg Farm. There is ample parking either in the adjacent lot or immediately to the north at the National Park’s Headquarters complex, a short walk to the Friends’ Office. Admission is free!
Pre-sale ordering is strongly recommended as only a limited quantity of each plant species is ordered from our supplier, Possibility Place Nursery. Every year several varieties will have completely sold out to the pre-sale order customers! We fill the orders in the sequence in which they are received so mail early. The deadline for submitting your completed native plant pre-sale order form is August 26, 2023. You will be notified of any unavailable plant species when your order is received.
The Native Plant Sale order forms are available for printing at the Friends of Indiana Dunes website (dunefriends.org). You can also find a link on our Facebook page. Paper copies of the order form are available at the Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center and at the Indiana Dunes Tourism visitor center. Have questions or need assistance concerning the order form, please contact Friends’ Native Plant Sale committee by calling 219-707-3617 or email nativeplants@dunefriends.org.
As always, open shopping of the plant material is available on the day of sale. There will be more than 80 native plant species, including woodland flowering plants and ferns; dry, medium, and wet prairie flowering plants; as well as grasses, shrubs, and trees. We offer a large selection of those hard-to-find native grasses, woodlands, and ferns. Plant varieties come in pots and are native to northwest Indiana, northeast Illinois, and southwest Michigan.
Our informed gardening consultants will be available to answer all your questions about native plants and your specific habitat. Please bring photos of your proposed native garden site with you. All Native Plant Sale profits will support the mission of the Friends of Indiana Dunes.
