Emerald City Theatre’s “Magic Tree House: Showtime with Shakespeare” – Review by Carol & Molly Moore

**** Recommended **** I took my granddaughter, Molly, to see Emerald City Theatre’s “Magic Tree House: Showtime with Shakespeare”, subtitled “A Musical Adventure on a Midsummer’s Night!”. Since she’d read the book, “Stage Fright on a Summer Night”, Magic Tree House Book 25, by Mary Pope Osborne, it was a good choice for her. Overall, the performance is energetic, colorful and musical. 3 ½ Spotlights

“Magic Tree House: Showtime with Shakespeare” is suggested for children aged five and up. For the smaller set, we recommend “Mother Goose’s Garden” playing at Emerald City’s Little Theatre (advertised as “The nation’s first facility dedicated to theatre for the very young!”), 2933 N. Southport, Chicago.

Emerald City Theatre’s “Magic Tree House: Showtime with Shakespeare” runs through February 25th at the Apollo Theater, 2450 N. Lincoln, Chicago. Parking is available for a fee in the lot next to the theater. Street parking is also available. Running time is just under an hour. Performances times and dates are available at www.emeraldcitytheatre.com. Tickets begin at $15. FYI (773) 935-6100 or www.ticketmaster.com.
