**** Recommended **** I took my granddaughter, Molly, to see Emerald City Theatre’s “Magic Tree House: Showtime with Shakespeare”, subtitled “A Musical Adventure on a Midsummer’s Night!”. Since she’d read the book, “Stage Fright on a Summer Night”, Magic Tree House Book 25, by Mary Pope Osborne, it was a good choice for her. Overall, the performance is energetic, colorful and musical. 3 ½ Spotlights

For the smaller set, we recommend “Mother Goose’s Garden” playing at Emerald City’s Little Theatre (advertised as “The nation’s first facility dedicated to theatre for the very young!”), 2933 N. Southport, Chicago.
