During many recent stay-at-home life style changes, many people are finding themselves with a few more pounds than normal and are struggling to find a good way to work them off. Cardiovascular exercises are often the most accessible, as they include anything that will get your heart pumping and blood flowing, such as walking and running. As such, if you’re willing to make the investment, a treadmill is one of the most commonly and widely available pieces of equipment. They’re so widely available, in fact, that it may be difficult to choose one. So, if you’d rather not get a machine, a good alternative would be to try dancing. Just like jogging, dancing is a great way to burn calories and is much easier to do within your home.
Next comes the bodyweight exercises. This involves using your own weight as the resistance to your workout, much like how weights such as dumbbells or barbells are used. There’s a wide enough variety of exercises that allow you to target different muscle groups for a full-body workout. For example, push-ups are great for building strength in the arms, while squats are ideal for improving your lower body and core.
On a similar note, yoga and stretching are probably the easiest exercises you can do at home because they take up the least amount of space. It’s a good idea to get a yoga mat to provide support for your knees and elbows while you hold different positions. Yoga is helpful for keeping your muscles and joints loose and improving your flexibility. It’s often a good way to warm up before beginning your cardio or bodyweight exercises, as it helps prevent injuries. Plus, you’ll likely perform better in your other exercises if you’re nice and warmed up.
