“East Texas Hot Links” is a Gripping but Ultimately Tragic Story

**** Recommended **** “East Texas Hot Links” is a difficult play to describe or categorize.    Although it has some funny moments, drawing some loud guffaws from the audience, the story ends on a tragic note which definitely drew some tears.  As with all of the Writers Theatre productions I’ve seen thus far, “East Texas Hot Links” is extremely well-acted.  I didn’t like it, but I give it 3 ½ Spotlights.

“East Texas Hot Links” runs through January 22nd in the Gillian Theatre, Writers Theatre, 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe.  Running time is 90 minutes, no intermission.  Performances are Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 pm; Saturdays at 3:00 and 7:30 pm; and Sundays at 2:00 and 6:00 pm.  Tickets range from $35-$80.  Free parking is available in the Metra lot across Greenbay Road.  FYI (847) 242-6000 or www.writerstheatre.org.
