It was a “sold out” event tonight for the Hilltop Neighborhood House “A Place At Our Table” Capital Campaign kick off event at Don Quijote in Valparaiso. Hilltop will begin construction on building a standing SOUP kitchen building in the spring of 2023. This event would not have been available except for the generous support from Carlos Rivera and Elena Jambrina, owners of the popular Downtown Restaurant.
The “Hilltop Mission Kitchen” will serve free hot nutritious meals three days a week for any food insecure individual living in Valparaiso. The new location flanks the Hilltop Food Pantry currently located at 606 Union. The Hilltop Mission Kitchen will be located at 608 Union. They are at almost 70% of our fundraising goal.
The Hilltop neighborhood area still remains the only governor opportunity zone in Porter County. With almost double the number of low income residents in a few square miles, it can be challenging serving so many in need.
Support services such as food and other resources are critical for those living at risk, not only in this neighborhood, but other parts of our city. Hilltop is extremely proud to bring such services to support those in need with the help of so many. If you’re interested in supporting this project, or want further information about Hilltop’s programs please call 219-477-4222.
