Biographical Info

Keenan Baxter, a local Keyboardist and Composer of the Valparaiso area, is a Grammy Contender (2006) and also an arranger/producer. He is also hailed as Number 1 in the Region in Jazz by Reverbnation. This “Top 40 Worldwide” young talent offers original compositions and some popular standard songs. Keenan’s genre is best described as Jazz mixed with Today’s musical elements of Pop, Jazz and Blues. He had over a dozen CDs to his credit by the age of 21 and has performed in several Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana venues.
Keenan is also the wearer of many hats, being involved in songwriting, production and, of course, performance, working every day in his studio, he was trained at the “Music Industry Workshop,” Chicago home of the infamous “Studio Chicago Recording.” Over the past 10 years many resources are behind Keenan’s eclectic talents, adding momentum to an already climbing career. A composer in a variety of genres –  Blues, Jazz, Funk, Contemporary Jazz, Smooth Jazz, New Age, Celtic, Meditation, Tribal, Native American, Latino, Jazz Fusion & Multi-Genre songs, Keenan is a promising talent whose abilities encompass multiple styles and skills.

Many of his songs can be found on I-Tunes, Music Match, Rhapsody, Napster and all over the world. His music has been selected for Pod shows, Videos and Played on Record Pools All over the country and the world.

As a composer, Keenan has the ability to “create” the sound of a full band, an endeavor that can only be produced by a composer/producer and is very rare and hardly ever accomplished or performed. As a composer, Keenan is more than just a keyboardist. When he plays, he sounds like a full band – what you hear is what you get. Keenan is a musician’s musician – where jazz, rock, pop, Blues and sounds are all sublimely rendered by this man in ways that will astound.  Ask him to play any of his own compositions and you’ll know that you are in the presence of a musical genius.
