Crown Point Opens New Skating Venue at Bulldog Park

The City of Crown Point, Parks and Special Events Departments are excited to announce that Bulldog Park will be opening to the public for ice skating! The ribbon cutting took place at  Saturday, December 22nd prior to open skating at 6pm. Concessions will be available with plenty of hot chocolate and wintery treats.
The move means the city no longer will have to close downtown streets to accommodate festival crowds. Festivals will be shifted over to Bulldog Park, and it also will be home to the Thursday night car cruises. Senior activities currently taking place at the civic center will move to the new event center at Bulldog Park.

Located just off the downtown square on a 2-acre site along West Street next to Wheeler Middle School, the $10 million project will have numerous amenities including a two-story, multifunction event center, an Olympic-sized ice rink, splash pads and an amphitheater/bandshell that can accommodate 1,500 people for concerts and theater performances.

Skate Parking is available in the municipal lot on the corner of Walnut and West St., on street parking along West St, and the municipal lot between Chase Bank and the West St. complex. The City will provide the trolley to transport guests from the Cal Ripken little league parking lot to Bulldog Park.

Bulldog Park is a new event center housing a 16,000 sq.ft. community building, splash pad, hockey rink / pavilion and amphitheater. Rental and sponsorship opportunities are available by calling the Parks office at 219-661-2271.
