Celebrate the holiday season in Crown Point with various festive events throughout the city. The holiday season kicks off next week.
Tree and Tank Lighting Ceremonies
The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 on the east side of the historic Lake County Courthouse, 1 Courthouse Square. This free event features live entertainment from the Crown Point High School Choir and the Harmony Handbells. Wittenberg Village will provide hot chocolate and
cookies. At 6:30 p.m., American Legion Post 20 and the Boy Scouts will assist with the Tank Lighting Ceremony at the intersection of Goldsborough and Main streets.
Winter Market
The holiday fun continues with the Crown Point Winter Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. The market will be at St. Peter & Paul Macedonian Church, located at 9660 Broadway, Crown Point, IN 46307. A variety of items, including hand-crafted artisan goods, clothing, jewelry and holiday gifts, will be
available at the market. The Lakeside Artists Guild will perform holiday music during the Winter Market from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Beverages will be available for purchase.
Santa Parade
Santa will fly into Crown Point on the Lake County Sheriff’s Department helicopter at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, for the Santa Parade. The parade will begin at Pointe Plaza on North Main Street. Santa and friends also will drive around to see families on Molley the Trolley on Saturday, Nov. 26. A map of his
route will be posted on the city’s website, www.crownpoint.in.gov. Immediately following the Santa Parade, families can visit with the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who at Debbie’s Designs, located at 154 N. Main St., until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26.
Photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus
Snap holiday photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the lower level of the historic Lake County Courthouse on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. from Saturday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Dec. 18. Please bring a camera.
Kid’s New Year’s Eve Party
Ring in the New Year during the Kid’s New Year’s Eve Party from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at St. Matthias, 101 W. Burrell Drive. This family friendly event is for children ages 12 and under, and includes a DJ, magic show, face painter and balloonist. Pizza, cake and beverages will be served. Tickets are $7 per
person; kids 2 and under are free. Registration is required and closes at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26. To register, visit www.crownpoint.in.gov.
