cinderella star plaza theater merrville indiana ballet

Cinderella Comes to NWI Tuesday April 11th

Indiana Ballet Theatre (IBT) is prepping for a family favorite — Cinderella the ballet at Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville.

If you’re looking to make memories with family and friends, then you’ll enjoy the classic rags to riches story of Cinderella the ballet.  “Cinderella was IBT’s first full length ballet, and our first performance at Star Plaza Theatre 20 years ago,” said Gloria Tuohy, IBT Founder and Artistic Director.  Set in the 13th Century, with period costuming, it promises to be one of the most delightful pantomime ballets for the entire family.  The production is full of humor and romance as Cinderella transforms from rags to riches guided by her Fairy Godmother and fairies of the kingdom.

From Chicago, Michigan, and throughout Northern Indiana, the cast of 125 range in ages and characters, including golden horses, played by our young IBT company members, and fire flies led by the smallest cast members. Complete with wonderfully spirited costumes, and an array of magical moments, the cast talent and dedication bring this mesmerizing production to life. Kristy Victor, seasoned IBT dance member, channels the essence of Cinderella, accompanied by her Prince, Darrell Haggart, professional dancer from Michigan.

Cinderella performances will take place Tuesday, April 11th at 10am and 7pm at Star Plaza Theatre ; tickets are $25/adults/children, $20/seniors for the 7pm show, and $15/adults/seniors/children for the 10am show.  Group and school rates available. For information, or to purchase tickets, go to www.ibtnw.org or call Indiana Ballet Theatre at 219.755.4444.
