Christmas Behind the Scenes at Barker Mansion

Have you toured Michigan City’s Barker Mansion in the past but were left wondering what was behind closed doors? Guided Curator Tour – Tickets $18.00 & $15.00 will be held December 8th, 10th, 15th & 17th, 2021 offers guests a look at the typically off-limits spaces of the historic home. The two-hour tour ventures the recent remodeling efforts that have taken place in 2021 begins at 1pm.
The tour includes a look at former servant’s quarters and allows guests into the archives, storage areas and rooms that are typically roped off during regular tours. Adding to the visual display this month are ten Christmas trees throughout the home.

The Barker Mansion is located at 631 Washington Street in Michigan City, IN. The 38-room mansion was built by freight car industrialist and philanthropist John H. Barker in 1905, after he expanded onto his father’s original 1857 home on the same site. Reservations are required by calling (219) 873-1520. Cost is $18 per adult and $15 per youth, ages 15 and under. The December 15 Behind the Scenes Tour will be the only tour of its type offered this month.
