The benefit of having a “juried art show” is that you really get quality art when it’s a juried fair. In addition, the artists that are coming work in all kinds of media. Drawing, glass, jewelry, painting, metalwork, clay and fiber, jewelry, clothing, pottery, will all be there.

Dogwood park has proven to be a great location. Dogwood provids more needed some space to expand and is all flat landscape. People don’t have to climb a hill from the parking area to the fair at Dogwood Park and parking is easy for fair vendors as well. There are also many shelters at Dogwood providing more space for artists, vendors and music.

For a small fee, the fair features a children’s art experience booth. Children can come in and create art of their own to take home with them. There are several different kinds of art that they can do. These are quick little projects that they can spend a few minutes creating making them feel part of the experience.

The Chesterton Art Fair raises funds for the nonprofit Chesterton Art Center, which recently upgraded its front space to offer two galleries for exhibits. The Chesterton art Center serves the local community at large, has a gift shop and an annual Gala and monthly exhibits.
The Art Center provides classes to all ages and all kinds of classes. Whether you are 3 years old in preschool or a senior citizen, you can learn how to bake clay or even use a digital camera. The fair proceeds helps the Art Center with their operating expenses throughout the year. For a single $25 yearly membership you’ll get their newsletter in the mail every month, a discount on purchases and classes, and much more

Wendy Marciniak, who is director at the Art Center is also chairman of the fair. Dogwood Park’s address is 1415 S. 23rd St., Chesterton, In 46304, and is more centrally located only a mile off Interstate 94 and the toll road, which makes it easy for out-of-town visitors to find.
