**** Recommended **** “Bullets over Broadway” is a musical adaptation of Woody Allen’s 1994 movie. The story is a mash-up of those black and white gangster/Broadway movies of the ‘30s and ‘40s that run late at night on cable. With a song list from the ‘20s, some of the songs are perfectly placed, others don’t fit into the story at all. All that aside, “Bullets over Broadway” has to be one of the most brilliantly choreographed shows I’ve seen in a while. I give it 4 Spotlights.
“Bullets over Broadway” runs through May 1st at the PrivateBank Theatre, 18 W. Monroe, Chicago. Running time is 2 hours, 30 minutes, with an intermission.
