Birding Festival to Host FREE Day at The Indiana Dunes

     Join the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival for this free day of family fun at the Indiana Dunes State Park!

     Join us for a full day of birding activities, including:
* free beginner hikes every hour,
* photo ID quiz giveaways,
* bird games,
* bluebird house building,
* scout birding merit badge activities, and more! 
   Watch songbird and hummingbird banding as well.

All activities take place at the State Park Nature Center and include special presentations throughout the day.     All activities are FREE, whether you’re registered for the festival or not. Many activities may be rain or shine.

     Catch the free shuttle bus from the Douglas Center in Gary starting at 10am for free entry into the State Park!

     Shuttle bus sponsored by the Flora Richardson Foundation. The shuttle bus will run from 10am-4pm back-and-forth between the Douglas Center and State Park Nature Center. State park entrance is free for anyone on the shuttle bus. The last shuttle leaves the Nature Center at 4:15pm.

Sand Sculpting Festival – Michigan City

  – The return of the Singing Sands Sand Sculpting Festival to Michigan City’s Washington Park will feature a new amateur competition that will help raise funds for local LaPorte
County charities.
      The Singing Sands Sand Sculpting Festival Community Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 10, 2023 as a part of the three-day sand sculpting festival scheduled for June 9, 10 and 11.
