The Beverly Shores Fifth Annual Garden and Art Walk will be held on June 1, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To celebrate the 90th anniversary of Bartlett homes, all featured gardens will be at Bartlett homes, and one home will be open to Walk ticket-holders.
Bartlett Homes are what residents call the original homes built by Frederick Bartlett in Mediterranean Revival style, a popular architectural style in the 1920’s-30’s that drew heavily on the style of seaside villas.
Each garden will feature an on-site plein air artist painting in the garden. Also, your ticket for the Walk may be entered into a raffle for an original watercolor painting of a Bartlett Home by Janis Boldenow.
Tickets for the Walk will be available at absr.org. The cost is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Guests may check in at the Beverly Shores Administration Building, 500 S. Broadway to receive their wristband for admission to the gardens and the bus, and to enter the raffle..
In addition, there will be a guided architectural walking tour of eighteen Bartlett Homes. The tour costs a separate fee of $10. The hour-long tour will begin at 10 a.m. at the Beverly Shores Depot Museum and Art Gallery, 525 S Broadway, Beverly Shores, and is limited to 20 participants. Inside the Depot will be a historical exhibition of Bartlett Homes.
For more information about both events contact Elizabeth Thornburg at ethornburg@comcast.net.
These events are co-sponsored by the Association of Beverly Shores Residents and the Environmental Restoration Group.
