Anne Evans is a Chicago based artist, photographer and graphic designer. Originally a painter, she became interested in photography as an alternative way to express herself.
She began developing her own black & white images and experimented by combining mixed media components with her photographs. Her practice has evolved in recent years with a focus on close-up images of architecture, urban scenes, and natural landscape, allowing the details of her subject matter to become abstract compositions.
Anne’s work has been exhibited widely throughout the Midwest.
The upcoming exhibit at the Marshall J. Gardner Center highlights photographs that present familiar scenes from a unique perspective. These abstract compositions of pattern and color evoke a sense of curiosity and mystery. Anne hopes to engage viewers and inspire them to pause, reflect and observe their surroundings in a fresh, new way.
This exhibit is possible through the sponsorship of Woodruff & Sons, Nancy Hejna, and Mauro Crestani.
