Art Barn accepting entries for 30th Juried Exhibit through February 25, 2024.

The Art Barn School of Art is delighted to announce our 30th Annual Juried Art Exhibition. The purpose of this long-standing exhibition is to promote the creation and recognition of original quality 2-dimensional works of art, as well as ceramic arts.  The exhibition attracts entries from established and aspiring artists from Northwest Indiana, Chicago suburbs and Southwest Michigan and beyond. Brian Byrn, Director and curator at the Midwest Museum of American Art will bring an expert curatorial eye to this year’s artwork selection process, and as juror Mr. Byrn will help Art Barn ensure the highest standards and integrity.

The entry process is entirely online with a deadline for submissions at midnight on February 25, 2024. To learn more visit artbarnschool.org. The exhibition opens April 13 and will run through May 23, 2024 with an opening reception scheduled for April 19 from 5:00 to 8:00pm CST.

Art Barn provides numerous purchase and merit awards totaling $6,000.

2024 Juror Brian Bryn
Since 1981 Brian Byrn has served in a curatorial capacity for the Midwest Museum of American Art (MMAA) foundation, and in 2017 was appointed as Director/Curator. During this time Byrn has mounted over 400 exhibitions of regional and national significance while assisting in the acquisition of a permanent collection which has grown to around 6,400 works. His 43-year tenure has been spent planning and implementation of art appreciation programs, exhibition & collection research and development for the MMAA in Elkhart, IN.

Over the past 40 years, Byrn has served as Judge/Juror for over 50 fine art competitions and art fairs across the Midwest.

Byrn has exhibited his drawings and mixed media installations throughout the Midwest. His artwork has been the subject of 6 solo exhibitions in 3 states and has garnered 15 Best of Show awards in competitions. His artwork is found in public and private collections across the US.

In 1994 he served as the inaugural juror for Art Barn School of Art’s first Juried Art Exhibition. “It feels like a celebration to have Brian return as juror for the 30th anniversary of this exhibit,” states Amy Davis Navardauskas, director at Art Barn. “Brian’s experience and reputation has grown significantly over the last 3 decades – as has our exhibit – so it feels like a full-circle moment to have him back as juror in 2024.”
