Aquatic Splash Pad, Hammond

Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the Hammond Port Authority are proud to announce the  opening of the new Aquatic Play Center at Wolf Lake. Bring your children, twelve and under, out for fun in the sun at the new splash pad.  Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

The center features a splash pad full of shooting, spraying water to stay cool on hot summer days. The splash pad includes giant water shooters that you can spin and aim.

“Splash pads are becoming the new big thing with cities and park districts,” says Wolf Lake Coordinator Jill Gajewski. “They require a lot less maintenance and upkeep.”

Sixty-minute sessions begin at 11am and run through 7:00pm.  The play center is open seven days a week, weather permitting, but special hours on certain days, check this link for more info.  You MUST BRING YOUR OWN CHAIRS

Comforting to parents is the fact that and the entire area is fenced in with a lot less worry of a deep area of water like there is with a pool. The splash pad is open daily to kids 12 and under accompanied by a parent or guardian starting Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with 90 minute sessions taking place all day with 30 minutes in between for cleaning and disinfecting. Kids must wear shoes with backs on them (no flip flops) and no food is allowed in the splash pad area.) The Aquatic Play Center does offer concessions, however, and picnic areas outside of the splash pad along with playground equipment when the kids are done playing in the water.

Monday thru Thursday rates are $1 admission for Hammond and Whiting residents, $2 for Indiana residents and $3 for out-of-state residents.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday rates are $2 for Hammond, $3 Indiana and $4 out of state. The splash pad is also available for 2-hour party rentals. Two parents can enter for free with one paid child.

Looking for an awesome party location?  You can rent the splash pad for your private party.  Call 219.937.7942 for more information. Come out for an inexpensive staycation at Wolf Lake!
