2020 Theatre Season At Towle Theater – Hammond

The Towle Theater presented their annual 2020 SEASON.

The season begins with a one-woman show Erma Bombeck: At Wit’s End performed by cast member, Laura MacGregor (last seen in Good Boys & True-2011) and directed by Suzanne Nyhan (seen in Mama’s Boy & Shirley Valentine). Performance Dates: FEB 21-23, 28-29, MAR 1, 6-8, 2020.

Daddy Long Legs, is a musical with strong singer/actors by Paul Gordon & John Caird. Performance Dates are May 1-3, 8-9, 15-17, 2020.
A heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor, based on the treasured novel that inspired the classic 1955 film. Daddy Long Legs is a beloved tale in the spirit of Jane Austen, The Brontë Sisters and “Downton Abbey.”
Daddy Long Legs features music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominated composer/lyricist, Paul Gordon (Jane Eyre), and Tony-winning librettist/director, John Caird (Les Misérables), and is a “rags-to-riches” tale of newfound love.
Night Tide, Performance Dates: JULY 10-12, 17-19, 24-26, 2020. A new musical inspired by the 1961 mystery-thriller B movie, tells the kitschy and compelling tale of Johnny Drake, a lonely Naval sailor.
As he enjoys his first shore leave exploring the boardwalks, tiki bars, and beach parties of a spooky seaside town, Johnny meets Mora, a seductive and mysterious young woman who works in the sideshow as a mermaid.
Johnny immediately becomes smitten with Mora, but soon discovers that she may in fact be a real siren of the sea, and she may have lured her previous boyfriends to their watery graves…
The comedy Hope & Gravity –  Performance Dates: SEPT 11-13, 18-20, 25-27, 2020. This show rounds out the subscription series.  When an elevator falls in a major city, nine lives intersect in surprising ways, both comic and tragic—through love and sex, poetry and dentistry; in offices, homes, and hotel rooms.
Jill longs for Steve, who’s engaged to Barb, who hooks up with Peter, who’s already having an affair with Nan, who’s married to Marty, who subscribes to Elevator World. Meanwhile, nine stories off the ground, Douglas meets Tanya — who’s hoping to get pregnant with Ha l— and a little miracle changes hands. By turns hilarious and profound, Hope & Gravity traces the barely perceivable threads that connect us all.
